Summer 2018 Camps

Vol. State

Exploring STEAM through Art
Campers will create, make, and innovate! Take your artistic creations to the next level by investigating the science behind making some pretty cool art. As artist-scientists you will explore the chemistry of lithography; design, build and direct your own stop-motion videos; and create some great paintings to take home using the science of density and the physics of gravity. Students will explore the difference between art and science and find where the two intersect.
Dates: June 4 – June 8, 2018
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Cost: $125 includes all materials, light snacks and water
Ages: 5-12 (Grades K-6)
Limited to 20 students
Instructor: Beth Moore

Energetic Engineers
Campers will use their knowledge of technology and science to develop products that help the community around them. In this camp, students will design and engage in hands-on experiments to understand how engineers engage in the planning process to produce great products. Expose your project to different elements to see if it will be able to survive. Use your creative juices to construct cool structures and safely experiment to learn how engineers can use different substances to make them work together as one.
Dates: June 11 – June 15, 2018
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Cost: $99 includes all materials, light snacks and water
Ages: 5-12 (Grades K-6)
Limited to 20 students
Instructor: Kristen Albritton

littleBits STEM
Students will produce Littlebits projects that will focus on being hands-on and make a product that can be brought home and shared with their families and local community. Throughout all projects, we will continually emphasize the engineering design process, creativity and the importance of collaboration. Camp projects will include basic robotics with Bristlebots, Makey Makey, Ozobots, and coding a Sphero robot to travel through a maze, and more!
Dates: June 18 – June 22, 2018
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
